I wanted to create this website as a sort of tribute to mix tapes and their influence on the lives of music lovers in the pre-Internet age. It is a pet project, made with love. The website will feature stories and interviews about the mix tapes that meant so much to their recipients, songs that changed people’s lives, one-of-a-kind artwork as cassette inserts, messages conveyed in songs– creations that left indelible marks on the hearts of the listeners or on their minds and perspectives. Whenever possible, the site will follow the threads from mix tape recipients to mix tape makers, thereby following the spread of influence that mix tapes had on people and culture.
